Glenda Fay Johnson Owens

Glenda “Glinda” Fay Johnson Owens got her pair of wings on Sunday morning March 31, 2024 in Tangipahoa, Louisiana, at the age of 85. She was born October 16, 1938 in Slager, Louisiana to the late Edward and Beatrice Johnson. She lived in St. Bernard Parish for over 40 years before returning to her husband’s family area in Washington Parish following the destruction of Hurricane Katrina. Glenda was a member of Clifton Baptist Church. After her husband passed on August 31, 2020, she started living between her daughter Monica and son Garry’s homes. These past three months she has been with her son and his wife Stephanie taking care of her needs. Glenda loved working in her flower beds so she could give flower plants to others and her church family. She loved playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Glenda was always a loving person and those that had a chance to meet her and talk with Glenda would not forget her soft kind words and were blessed to have met such a beautiful person like her. Glenda is survived by her Son & Daughter-in-Law James Garry Owens (Stephanie Nicholas Owens), Daughter & Son-in-Law Monica Faye Emerick (Mark Emerick), Grandchildren (11): James G Quinlan, Steven L. Quinlan, Scott E. Quinlan, Nicholas J. Owens, Melissa Weems, Mark Emerick, Melinda Emerick, Amy Owens, Asher Emerick, Nayeli Weems, Ever Kyzar, Kit Kyzar and Great Grandchildren: (5) Quinlan Jamie, Eli, Avalyn / Owens Nolan, Mason, and Great Great-grandchildren: (2) Austin L, Lauralye D. White, Nieces and nephew: Wanda, Edward III, Norman. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Fairest Owens, son Gregory Owens, Parent Edward Sr. and Beatrice Johnson, siblings Edward Jr., Gordon W, Gloria J. and Nephew Andrew. John 4:1 I have no greater joy than to hear my children walk in truth. Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the path of righteousness for His name sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Christians were meant to suffer and have bad things happen to families just because they are loyal believers of Gods words. So others can see how Christians can confront and survive world conflicts and family crises by relying on GOD each time to bring them through. She relied on GOD to bring her through such challenges. When we are faced with hard times, we should never give up hope and remember that god is always in control and has a purpose for everything. Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton, LA) on Friday April 5th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Friday. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery (19840 Lee Road, Franklinton)
