Allen Virgil Jones

ALLEN VIRGIL JONES, AGE 53 And a resident of the Oak Grove Community died Thursday night November 2, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Allen had fought a long and courageous battle with cancer, proving he was Superman to his wife and children. He was a longtime cross-country truck driver of dry goods and other products for several different companies through the years. Allen had the CB handle of “Handyman” due to his ability to build just about anything and his love for working with his hands. He enjoyed fishing and always stayed active before his illness. Allen was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and his favorite hobby was spending quality time with his family and grandchildren. Survived by: Wife: Lynda Courtright Jones of the Oak Grove Community Son: Christopher Allen Jones and Joli Foster of the Oak Grove Community 2 Daughters and a Son in law: Kelly Jones Mixon and Ken Mixon of Oak Grove Community, Katie Jones of Mt. Hermon 4 Grandchildren: Gloria Mixon, Jaelyn Jones, Kensly Mixon, Kasey Foster Mother: Velma Fairburn Jones of Oak Grove Community 2 Brothers and a Sister in law: Johnny and Donna Jones of Indiantown, FL, William R. “Billy” Jones of Oak Grove Community 3 Sisters and Brothers in law: Emily Gonzales of Fargo, ND, Eva Jones Graham and Mike Graham, Cindy and Tommy Guy all of Franklinton Mother in law: Lucy Courtright Brothers in law and Sisters in law: Bill and Angela Courtright, Elizabeth “Beth” Courtright, David and Janine Courtright Also numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other family members and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father Virgil Jones and a brother Bobby Jones. Visitation will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church (19840 Lee Road, Franklinton) on Thursday November 9th from 11 am until 1 pm. A memorial service will be held in the church at 1 pm Thursday with Rev. Derek Dantin officiating. Burial in Spencer Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Oak Grove Baptist Church Building Fund. The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to Ken Mixon for his loving care and support to Allen.
