John Larry Bickham

JOHN LARRY BICKHAM, AGE 78 And a resident of Denham Springs went to sleep Tuesday night then woke up with Jesus early Wednesday morning December 3, 2014 at his home. He was born near Franklinton on December 14, 1935 and graduated from Franklinton High School in 1954, where he was a member of the Varsity Basketball Team, the FFA and an FHS cheerleader. John was voted best All-around by his classmates and attended First Baptist Church. After graduation, he began employment with the Louisiana Highway Department in January 1957 until his retirement in 1994. He also served in the National Guard and later became an engineer in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a baseball coach in the Central Area Youth League and coached basketball while a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church. At the time of his passing John was a member of Greenwell Springs Baptist Church. Survived by: His High School Sweetheart and Wife of 57 years: Marcia Miller Bickham of Denham Springs 2 Daughters and Sons in law: JoHannah Bickham Stroud and Keith Stroud, Lynn Bickham Bienvenu and Michael Bienvenu all of Denham Springs Son and Daughter in law: Patrick and Ashleigh Bickham of Denham Springs Sister: Sarah Bickham Riley of Franklinton 6 Grandchildren and Spouses: Jeremy and Mandy Stroud of Baton Rouge, Howard and Crystal Stroud of Denham Springs, Jonathan Nunez of New Orleans, Carrie Nunez Webb and Brannon Webb of Denham Springs, Taylor Bienvenu Ammons and Drew Ammons of Baton Rouge, Erin and Luke Bickham of Denham Springs 10 Great-grandchildren: Aubrey and Amelia Stroud, Gabriel Nunez, Brannon, Briggs, and Grayson Webb, Emmett Stroud, Kaitlyn and Caden Hathcox, Aiden Ammons Also numerous cousins, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents John Leslie Bickham and Ruby Burkhalter Bickham and a sister Donna Bickham Crowe. Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton Friday December 5th from 9 am until 12 pm. A funeral service will be held at 12 pm Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Paul Watts officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellis Cemetery.
