John Everett Carden

JOHN EVERETT CARDEN, AGE 83 And a resident of the Enon Community passed away Wednesday evening May 15, 2024 at his home surrounded by his beloved family. He was a Vietnam War veteran, having served his country as a Firefighter for the United States Army. Upon returning to Washington Parish, John resumes his position with the Bogalusa Fire Department serving for 27 years, including a promotion to Captain in 1992. John was the “chef” for the department and he always enjoyed preparing meals for his coworkers. John enjoyed fishing at his camp on Hickory Island and also fishing the Pearl and Bogue Chitto Rivers. He liked horses and trail riding, making numerous trips from Covington to Baton Rouge with the Dixie Trail Ride. John even served as the group’s director for 17 years and he loved cooking for all the riders as well. He was an active member of Enon Baptist Church who always liked spending time with his siblings and large family. Survived by: Wife of 64 years: Jean Hemphill Carden of Enon Daughter and Son in law: Julie and Alan Williams of Enon Son and Daughter in law: BonScott and Lauren Carden of Metairie Grandson: Brett Carden, Everett Carden, Siera and Bradley Wesley, Oran Williams Great-granddaughter: Padme’ Carden Brother and Sister in law: J.W. and Debbie Carden of Panama City, FL Sister: Kittie Ann Crummy of Bogalusa Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members He was preceded in death recently by his son Chad Everett Carden, parents Wylie Carden and Clydie Mullens Carden, brothers William Carden, Oliver Carden, sisters Mary Nell Carden, Ruthie Jean Thomas, Carrie Mae Bessonette and other family members. Visitation will be at Enon Baptist Church (14049 Hwy. 16, Franklinton) on Saturday May 18th from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Chris Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the Galloway Cemetery near Bush, LA. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 24. Pallbearers are Brad Taber, Kevin Fauntleroy, Brent Fauntleroy, Sidney Jenkins, Dennis Raether, Mike Fussell and a special Honorary Pallbearer Anthony Modica
