Nellene McBeth Crawford

Nellene McBeth Crawford, was born July 31, 1939 in Tylertown , MS and passed away May 28, 2021 at her home in Baton Rouge. She graduated from Dexter High School in Tylertown, MS as salutatorian in 1957. She attended Pearl River Junior College in Poplarville, MS in English Education and also completed business courses. She worked at CIT Finance Company and Knight and Koonce Architects in Bogalusa, LA before excelling as a sales consultant, director, and trainer traveling the Southeastern United States with Beauti Control Cosmetics. She also worked as the office manager for Gordon Crawford and Associates in Gonzales, LA for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano and played in her church growing up. She continued playing until just a few years before she passed away. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband. She loved the beach and sun all of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Ocie Jordan McBeth and her two younger brothers Arvil “Buck” McBeth and Jimmy McBeth. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Gordon Crawford, her two daughters, Tari (Jordan) Trosclair and Tina Smith, her two sisters, Veronica Harris, Deborah (Roger) Lowery, three stepchildren, Karen (Bobby) Webre, Karla Marchand, Keith (Rachel) Crawford, nieces and nephews, and she was “Mimi” to Karsyn Marchand, Korinne Marchand and Gordon Michael Crawford. A private graveside service for her family was held in her childhood church cemetery in Dexter, Mississippi with Brother Carlton McDowell officiating and singing two songs acapella that were picked out by Nellene, “In the Garden” and “I Won’t Have to Cross Jordan Alone.” Her great niece, Blair Pounds, also sang “Amazing Grace” accompanied by her father on guitar. When Brother McDowell asked if anyone wanted to speak, her niece, Brooke McBeth Russell, of Houston, came forward and spoke of her extended visits with her “Aunt Nene.” Pallbearers were Bobby Webre, Keith Crawford, Johnny McBeth, Shannon Hartzog, Roger Lowery and Jordan Trosclair. A special thank you to her Aunt Cristine Jordan of Natchez, MS for being such a support to her during the years of her illness. She was very cherished and is deeply missed.
